Leading leisure airline, Jet2.com, celebrated a major milestone today, as the company’s 100 millionth customer travelled from Manchester Airport to Fuerteventura this afternoon (Wednesday 24th August).
Kerry Williams from, Failsworth in Manchester, who was travelling with her friends and their children for a holiday to Fuerteventura has been named as Jet2.com’s 100 millionth customer. For some members of the group, it was even their first ever holiday abroad. To mark the occasion, Kerry was surprised at check-in by the UK’s third largest airline and gifted five pairs of free Jet2.com flights.
Other customers travelling today were also given the type of VIP customer experience at check-in that has resulted in the company winning multiple awards. This included a red-carpet welcome, a balloon arch, palm trees and beach balls, to help get them into the holiday spirit.
Since its first flight from Leeds Bradford Airport to Amsterdam in February 2003, Jet2.com has experienced substantial growth and success, seeing it expand to become one of the UK’s largest airlines. The company now operates to 68 sun, city and ski destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean and Canary Islands from across ten UK bases, compared to just nine when it first launched. The huge programme now on sale with Jet2.com represents over 430 routes, with Alicante proving to be the most popular destination followed by Malaga, Palma (Majorca) and Tenerife.
On the back of the popularity of award-winning flights, the company launched ATOL protected package holidays through Jet2holidays in 2007. Today, Jet2holidays is the leading tour operator to many destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean and Canary Islands, offering customers 65 sun and city destinations. As well as booking and travelling on award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays to these destinations, customers can get to experience and enjoy the company’s VIP customer service.
The companies’ industry leading customer service has seen them be awarded with multiple accolades, recently the prestigious title of Which? Travel Brand of the Year and being recognised as the best airline and best tour operator for customer satisfaction according to July’s UKCSI published by the Institute of Customer Service. In addition, flight data published by leading travel intelligence company OAG has revealed that Jet2.com was the only UK airline not to cancel any flights during the busy month of July.
This VIP customer service includes friendly flight times and a generous 22kg baggage allowance through a flight-only booking with Jet2.com, which saw the airline win five accolades at the 2020 TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice® Awards for Airlines; or that very same VIP customer service, in-resort Customer Helpers, transfers, free child places and ATOL protection with the UK’s second largest tour operator, Jet2holidays. As well as a choice of thousands of 2-5 star hotels through Jet2holidays, customers can take advantage of millions of Free Child Places, transfers to and from the airport and ATOL protection, all for a low £60 per person deposit.
Kerry, who was named as Jet2.com’s 100 millionth customer, said: “I am over the moon to be Jet2.com’s 100 millionth customer. It was a fantastic surprise, when I checked-in at the airport this afternoon and was given the free flights. It really is unbelievable, and it has gotten my holiday off to a brilliant start. I cannot wait to start booking my next holiday, knowing that my flights are already taken care of. I’d like to say a big thank you to Jet2.com!”
Commenting on today’s milestone, Steve Heapy CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, added: “We are delighted to have flown millions of happy customers on our award-winning flights and for our 100 millionth customer to be travelling with us today. It is fantastic to have reached this important milestone and to be celebrating this with a special customer experience at check-in. Since we first launched, we have experienced substantial growth and this is all down to the support and loyalty of our customers, as well as our fantastic colleagues. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to our success over the years. As well as marking this milestone today, we are very much looking towards the future, and flying our valued customers on their well-deserved holidays. We look forward to taking many more millions of holidaymakers on our award-winning flights and, of course, welcoming Kerry and her friends onboard again in the very near future.”
