Jet2.com celebrates start of new summer services to Innsbruck
Published: Wed 25 May 2022 at 15:52
The busy flights will mark the start of Jet2.com operating up to two weekly services (Wednesday and Saturday) from Manchester Airport to Innsbruck and weekly Saturday services from Birmingham and Bristol Airports from 28th May through to 17th September for Summer 22. It gives holidaymakers access to the Tyrol region as well as the city of Innsbruck in the summer for the first time.
The introduction of summer flights to Innsbruck comes in response from strong and sustained demand for Summer 22 holidays and adds to the company’s existing winter ski programme.
Nestled in the Austrian Tyrol, the city of Innsbruck combines snowy peaks with pastel-coloured buildings – a perfect combination of alpine and urban. During the summer, holidaymakers can enjoy a range of sporting activities, including hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, cycling and swimming in the crystal-clear mountain lakes.
Conveniently located, just 15 minutes’ drive from the airport, Innsbruck appeals to holidaymakers throughout the year and is fast becoming a popular summer holiday destination for British holidaymakers. In the city, holidaymakers can enjoy the sights, shops, and restaurants, stroll through the historic old town, home to the famous Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) that was built for Emperor Maximilian I, jump on the Hungerburg funicular railway designed by the late Zaha Hadid, and marvel at the fabulous views from the top of the Nordkette.
Innsbruck is also known as the gateway to Tyrol region, the heart of the Alps, with many other resorts less than one hour’s drive away. Spectacular Seefeld in Tyrol, chocolate-box Alpbach, lively Mayrhofen in the Zillertal valley, stunning Sölden and neighbouring Obergurgl-Hochgurgl, Austria’s St. Anton am Arlberg, and legendary Kitzbühel are waiting to be explored. Overall, Tyrol offers an epic 24,000 km of hiking trails, delicious cuisine, incredible culture, exhilarating activities, and stunning scenery.
The start of summer flights to Innsbruck is part of Jet2.com’s expanded programme for Summer 22. As well as offering summer services to Innsbruck for the first time, the leading leisure airline is also operating to three other brand-new destinations this summer – Sardinia (Manchester and London Stansted), Sicily (Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted) and Athens (Birmingham and Manchester).
With 68 sun and city leisure destinations on sale to the Mediterranean, Canary Islands and Europe for Summer 22 from across Jet2.com’s network of ten UK bases, the airline’s huge programme offers customers and independent travel agents unrivalled choice and flexibility when it comes to booking or enjoying a much-needed getaway to their favourite summer destinations.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “It is fantastic to be operating summer services to Innsbruck for the first time and seeing our first flights for summer take off from Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol Airports. We are continuing to see strong and sustained demand from British holidaymakers looking to get away this summer and the start of our summer programme to Innsbruck offers holidaymakers even more choice. As such, the appeal of the destination, coupled with our perfectly timed flights and award-winning customer service, means these new services are proving extremely popular. Combining medieval architecture, stunning scenery, plenty of action and tasty cuisine, the Austrian city offers it all, whether holidaymakers are looking for adventure, scenery, wellness or simply enjoying the blend of modern and old in Innsbruck.”
Karin Seiler, the Managing Director of the Tirol Tourist Board, said: “For this summer, the Tirol Tourist Board is focusing in particular on promoting active recreation - especially hiking, cycling and climbing. In addition, the Tirol scores points in the summer with relaxing, enjoying nature, culinary delights and many opportunities to spend time with the family.”
