We said “Bonjour” to La Rochelle in style this weekend, as we launched a new route to the city from Leeds Bradford Airport.
Customers on the first flight were treated to a truly French welcome, with traditional music serenading them at La Rochelle Airport. Customers were also treated to a goodie bag that included caramel, chocolate and Pineau.
The new route means that we have over 5,000 seats on sale to La Rochelle for Summer 18 from Leeds Bradford. Flights operate every Saturday afternoon until the end of September, giving customers friendly flight times throughout the summer.
The popularity of La Rochelle and the surrounding area means that we have also announced a second new route from Manchester Airport for Summer 19. The addition of weekly Saturday flights between May and September means that almost 7,000 seats are on sale between La Rochelle and Manchester Airport for Summer 19.
The addition of flights from Manchester means that we will provide direct access to the picturesque harbour port from two UK bases next summer, and will more than double seat capacity.
Lined with seafood restaurants, the city is becoming increasingly popular with holidaymakers and boating enthusiasts. With a well-preserved walled old town at the heart of the city, La Rochelle also provides access via bridge to Il de Re, an Atlantic-coast island of dunes and pine forest - a relaxed destination with beautiful villages, long golden beaches and rural cycle paths.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “La Rochelle is a destination that is rapidly growing in popularity with Britons, so we are delighted to launch this new route from Leeds Bradford Airport. With weekly flights operating at great times throughout the summer on our award-winning airline, we are looking forward to a very successful programme. As demand to La Rochelle increases, we will be going even bigger and better next summer, with the launch of a second route to La Rochelle from Manchester.”
Thomas Juin, Airport Manager said ‘We are delighted with the arrival of the company Jet2.com at La Rochelle – Ile de Re airport. Our destination, already very appreciated by English people, is now accessible from the Leeds region in less than two hours thanks to the launch of this route. People will enjoy the sandy beaches of Ile de Re, walks, bike rides or a drink on the terraces of the old harbour of La Rochelle.”
