Announcements

Phil Ward, MD of Jet2.com, met with Baroness McIntosh in the House of Lords this week as part of our industry-leading Onboard Together campaign to tackle the issue of disruptive passenger behaviour.

Baroness McIntosh chairs an influential House of Lords Committee that has recommended some important changes to the law on selling alcohol in airports, which we believe would have a very positive impact. She also appeared in the recent Panorama programme which looked into the problem of disruptive passengers and alcohol, a programme which we also contributed to.

As well as enjoying a productive discussion with Baroness McIntosh, Phil was also able to brief other members of the Lords Committee on our campaign, which they were very receptive to.

We are currently waiting for the Government to respond to their Lordships’ recommendation to change the law to better regulate the sale of alcohol airside.

As a family-friendly airline, flying millions of people on holiday, these recommendations would be a very important step in our campaign to tackle disruptive passenger behaviour. The welfare and safety of our customers and colleagues is our number one priority, and we will not stand for a small minority of disruptive passengers spoiling the flight for the rest of those on board, so we look forward to the Government’s response.
