Canary Islands Government recognises Jet2.com and Jet2holidays

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is the first airline and tour operator to be awarded Best Partner for International Tourism Sustainability & Marketing Promotion by the Canary Islands Government.
The award comes on the back of 12 consecutive years of growth to the Canary Islands, a trend set to continue into 2018, when we expect to fly over 1.2 million customers to Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura from across our nine UK bases.
We started our programme to the Canary Islands in 2005, when flights commenced to Tenerife.
- Since launching in Tenerife in 2005, capacity has grown every single year from launch to over 450,000 passengers in 2018
- Since launching in Lanzarote in 2007, capacity has grown every single year from launch to over 330,000 passengers in 2018
- Since launching in Gran Canaria in 2007, capacity has grown every single year from launch to over 240,000 passengers in 2018
- Since launching in Fuerteventura in 2014, capacity has grown every single year from launch to over 195,000 passengers in 2018
Whilst other airlines and tour operators have moved capacity from the Canary Islands over the last 12 years, we have continued to fly more and more holidaymakers to the islands, filling hotels and boosting local economies. In addition, we have created over 300 year round jobs in the islands through the employment of staff at the airport, customer helpers in resorts, and staff operating our free resort flight check-in service which allows Jet2holidays customers to check-in for their flight at their hotel.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays was in Tenerife to collect the award from Matilde Asian, Secretary of State for Tourism in Spain, Canary Islands President Fernando Clavijo Batlle and Canary Islands Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport Isaac Castellano.
Speaking after the presentation, Steve Heapy said: “It is a great honour to be given this prestigious award by the Canary Islands Government. It means a great deal to receive this award and it makes us even more determined to continue on our path of growth in the future.”
