Research by ABTA has shown that almost a third of people in the UK plan to take a winter break this season, with bookings up 16% year-on-year.
The research shows that Winter sun is the most popular holiday type followed by city breaks and then UK breaks. Those aged 25-34 are most likely to be taking a winter holiday, followed by those over 65.
Some of the most popular destinations highlighted in the research are Spain, Portugal and Cyprus – each enjoying double digit growth.
With temperatures starting to dip in the UK, and with exactly one month until the Shortest Day of the Year – when daytime will last less than eight hours - these trends are exactly what we’re experiencing at Jet2holidays and Jet2CityBreaks.
