Prague sets the scene for the nativity

The Church Of Our Lady Of The Snows in Prague is preparing for a magical festive season by hosting the Nativity Scenes and Christmas Traditions exhibition from 30th November.

The event will feature more than 180 spellbinding nativity scenes spanning both modern and traditional artistic styles. With many designs created by local Czech artists, the works are a beautiful concoction of vibrant paintings, carved wooden figurines and delicate lace costumes. The centrepiece is the nativity scene by Jiri Votruba, which is an incredible 4.5 metres long and consists of several moving figures. There is even a shop within the exhibition to purchase nativity items too.
A very Christmassy city
The Gothic spires of Prague’s cathedrals and castles become even more enchanting over Christmas, as snowfall carves a sparkling white silhouette over the grand stonework. Dating back to the mid 14th century, The Church Of Our Lady Of The Snows sits between the borders between the Old Town and New Town of Prague. When the festive season starts at the end of November, the Czech capital’s Old Town Square and the New Town’s Wenceslas Square light into life with two huge Christmas markets.
