Winter Sun, Announcements

Popular Benidorm on the Costa del Sol is gearing up for a great time with the annual Benidorm Festival taking place from 9-13 November 2013.

Benidorm is bound to be brilliantly bright over its festival season! This five-day fiesta is an extravaganza of live music, dancing and quirky parades. Every hour is filled with excitement, from firing cannons in the morning to setting off bangers at lunchtime and flower shows at midnight! That’s not forgetting illuminations, a fantastic fairground and a quirky children’s play park.

The climax of the fiesta features more than 60 colourful floats marching through the Old Town, culminating in a huge firework display on Poniente Beach. Plus, for tasty treats, there are free fried sardines and chocolate at the festival food markets. Each year, some ingenious British ex-pats even extend the celebration for another day with a fancy dress party taking place on 14 November.

This special event is staged to honour the patron saints of Benidorm, the Virgen del Sufragio and San Jaime apostle. The Spanish certainly know how to celebrate, with entertainment including clowns and live music of all kinds from brass bands to rock groups.

As the Benidorm Festival is an annual event, those that miss out on all the action this year can already make sure they’re set for next time, which will start on 8 November 2014. That’s because Jet2.com is already offering flights to Alicante in November 2014 from Belfast, Blackpool, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle.
