According to recently released figures collected over the last few months, Manchester Airport has seen 2.1 million passengers during June of this year alone. This is a considerable rise since last year, and marks growth for the 13th consecutive month.
These figures show that uncertainty due to the recession is gradually waning, so those booking cheap flights to Tenerife in particular, one of the top destinations of the year, can rest easy.
The Civil Aviation Authority recently released these figures highlighting the traffic through Manchester Airport, which show an above average growth for June 2013. International flight traffic is also up 9.4%, showing that holidaymakers have a steady desire to go abroad this year while school’s out.
A Busy Summer
The success of Manchester Airport is partly due to the site’s ‘Fly Manchester’ campaign, which was launched in June. It was the third stage of a plan that aimed to focus on how low flights from the airport cost for holidaymakers during the summer, and Jet2.com is one of the airlines that continues to operate from Manchester.
The Chief Commercial Officer at MAG, the owners of Manchester Airport, has said that the summer this year was expected to be particularly busy. Cheap flights to Tenerife proved popular with those seeking breaks in sunny hotspots, as it is one of the top five foreign destinations this summer. The 23rd August was also predicted to be one of the busiest days, with original expectations placing passenger numbers at around 84,000.
