UK Music Fans Beating Festival Price Hikes with European Trips

People across the UK are gearing up for a summer of live music, with the festival season getting into full swing.
While the UK is known for the standard of its outdoor events, many campers are choosing to combat the rising costs of domestic festivals – like Leeds Festival and Bestival – by travelling a little further afield.
With cheap flights to Paris and Amsterdam readily available from Jet2.com, events such as Rock en Seine and Lowlands are becoming more viable as options for frugal music fans. While travel becomes a bigger part of the experience with the involvement of passport checks and airport transfers, the guaranteed hot weather and cheaper tickets tend to outweigh the negatives for most. Some of the events can also be tied in with extended beach holidays, especially with those based in places like Barcelona and Ibiza.
A Change of Scenery
Many of the European events feature the same artists as the UK options, with this year’s Rock en Seine – which is held at the end of August in the Saint-Cloud district of the French capital – hosting Nine Inch Nails and Franz Ferdinand on its main stage. Lowlands, which takes place near Amsterdam, offers a line-up including Jake Bugg and The Lumineers.
With a recent study suggesting that music fans are required to spend, on average, just under £400 to make the most of their festival experience this year, it’s no wonder many are looking to book cheap flights to Amsterdam and other European cities for a change of scenery.
