The 70th International film festival takes place this year from 28th August – 7th September in the ornate Italian city of Venice.
The world famous event offers leading film makers from around the globe the chance to showcase their work to industry critics. However, the festival also includes a public screening schedule for visitors and film fans to get involved with and enjoy the festivities.
Amongst the selection of hotly anticipated films is “The Zero Theorem”. A science fiction offering from director Terry Gilliam, it has generated quite the buzz since a sneak peak was revealed at San Diego comic-con earlier in the year. Featuring an all-star cast with the likes of Matt Damon and Tilda Swinton, this is set to be one of the highlights of the event.
Superstars Expected to Make an Appearance
Hollywood actor James Franco will also be presenting his adaptation of “Child of God” which is sure to draw in the curious crowds eager to see how he fares behind the lens. The hardworking heartthrob has certainly been busy as he will also be unveiling the Gia Coppola directed, “Palo Alto” – a film adaptation of Franco’s 2010 book of the same name.
While superstars George Clooney, Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson are all expected to make an appearance in support of their recent work, there’s a whole host of new and independent film makers making their forays into the industry.
The films that are premiered at the festival will be judged by a panel chaired by legendary Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci and the winner of Best Film will be awarded the Golden Lion on 6th September.
