Announcements

Real ale drinkers can capture the Oktoberfest feeling in May, by booking cheap flights to Prague with Jet2.com for the 6th annual Czech Beer Fest.

Now in its sixth year, the Cesky Pivni is the largest gastronomic festival in the Czech Republic, and takes place over 17 days each May. This year’s event runs from May 16th to June 1st in a marquee at the Holesovice Exhibition Centre. Evidently, the largest beer festival in the Czech Republic requires the Republic’s biggest beer tent, and this one is huge, seating up to 10,000 people.

Traditional Touches

More than 200 waiters and waitresses will be on hand, dressed in traditional costume, to serve 70 of the best beers that the region has to offer. Around 120 beers can be sampled in total, including some from the UK. Of course, it is never wise to drink on an empty stomach, and there will be plenty of good food, including local specialties supplied by some of the region’s top chefs, to mop up the beverages.

To ensure speedy service, visitors purchase a special currency, the beer Tolar, which they exchange for food and drink. However, the festival is not just about eating and drinking. Live bands will be playing a variety of music throughout the 17 days, with lively after-hours parties going into the small hours, in true Prague fashion!
