It isn’t just tourists who book cheap flights to Prague - sometimes, those in the industry need to fly there too, for events like Holiday World 2013, which took place at the Holesovice Exhibition Grounds from February 7 - 10.
Holiday World is a trade event focusing on tourism in Middle Europe, targeting travel agencies, domestic airlines and tourism companies across the world. 2013 marked the 22nd anniversary of the event, which was organised in conjunction with the 18th GOLFSHOW, targeting the specialised golf and golf tourism market, and Top Gastro, a gastronomy trade show now in its seventh year. Fortunately, the exhibition grounds, conveniently located 13 km from the airport, had more than enough room for the exhibitors and their attendees, despite being over 120 years old.
With 725 exhibitors, 47 countries, and 28 foreign tourist boards involved, the event was an eye-opener to the increasing importance of tourism to Middle Europe. While many promotional activities highlighted the attractions of the capital, the Czech Republic was keen to show it had more to offer than sightseeing tours of the City of Prague, highlighting its less well known areas in the Region World section. Future plans include a World Travel Film festival and further conferences, workshops and seminars highlighting key area of the travel and tourism industry.
Besides trade fairs, the Prague Exhibition Ground has a year-round programme of cultural, sporting and social events, many of which are held in the magnificent Industrial Palace, an Art Nouveau building constructed in 1891. To sample some of the Czech experience, cheap flights to Prague are available from Jet2.com.
