After the huge success of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the UK will host another of the world’s greatest sporting events in 2014 when the Tour de France comes to Yorkshire!
In less than two years time, Leeds will play host to the Grand Départ, the starting two days of the Tour de France to be held on 5th and 6th July 2014, bringing the iconic race to the north of England for the first time in its history.
A festival of cycling and the arts is planned to coincide with the arrival of the Tour which is Yorkshire’s chance to welcome the world and showcase everything that this great county has to offer for visitors from across the world.
Yorkshire is a region of outstanding beauty, with breathtaking landscapes, exciting cities, quaint towns and a stunning coastline all offering something unique and authentic Yorkshire for visitors. Whilst Leeds itself is England’s 3rd largest city renowned for its quality shopping, nightlife and culture. Key Leeds locations along the Grand Départ route include Leeds Town Hall, The Royal Armouries, The Corn Exchange and the new Leeds Arena, due to open in 2013.
