Announcements

If you will be in Barcelona during New Year’s Eve this year, you will have a fantastic time. This Spanish city really knows how to throw a party and New Year’s is no exception. Barcelona will be a great place to be when the New Year rolls around.

New Year’s Eve is known as Noche Vieja in Spanish and it is a very special occasion. Unlike some other cities, there is not usually a large fireworks display in Barcelona on New Year’s, but there might be the odd rocket or firecracker launched by some locals.

However, the real fireworks of Barcelona are happening in the discos, bars and clubs as there will be music and dancing all night long.

Enjoy a Special Meal

The local families of Barcelona will celebrate by having a special meal and a get-together until midnight. If you are lucky enough to be invited to one of these family celebrations you will be able to enjoy a wonderful evening of conversation and food. Everyone will gather together to watch the television and the tradition is to eat 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight.

Why grapes? This is a very important Spanish tradition. The church bells in the city will ring 12 times and with each of the chimes you must eat one grape. This will bring you luck for each month of the New Year.

If you want to ring in the New Year while traveling in this exciting Spanish city, why not book your cheap flights to Barcelona now?
