Announcements

Popular holiday destination Gran Canaria is set to become even more affordable, with the introduction of a new loyalty card which, among other things, will offer cheap discounts at a range of tourist venues.

Here at Jet2.com we are always keen for travellers to get maximum value from their cheap flights to Gran Canaria, the third largest of the Canary Islands, which has a lot to offer besides year-round sunshine, endless beaches and water sports.

Although much of the coastline has been transformed by modern beach resorts, there is still plenty of the island’s history in evidence, not least in the capital of Las Palmas. While the beachfront is lined with glittering high-rise hotels and apartment blocks, there is also a 15th Century old town, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990.

Great Days Out For All

Divided between the quarters of Vegueta and Triana, located either side of the dramatic Barranco de Guiniguada ravine, Las Palmas is home to numerous museums, palaces and other heritage buildings. The recent announcement of a new loyalty card means that, where charges are made, tourists will be able to get admission to these places at a discounted rate.

With one third of the island protected as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, there are many other reasons to book cheap flights to Gran Canaria. The aquarium and aviaries of Palmitos Park, for example, make a great day out for many. Holidaymakers may prefer though, in the height of summer, to spend their time in the coolness of the Cueva de los Cuatro Puertas caverns.
