Announcements

Those taking cheap flights to Prague this time of year can generally expect a nip in the air but on October 13 – 14, the waterfront was transformed into a mountain sports resort, complete with snowboard parks, ski slopes and tons of imported snow.

With the nearest slopes around 70km away, Prague might not seem the obvious place for a skiing holiday, but the Apres Ski winter sports festival brought the slopes down to the city, with the Rašínova waterfront turning into a snow-covered alpine village. The public could watch or take part in a variety of winter activities, including snowboarding, ski-jumping, Nordic skiing, luging and bobsleighing. As well as skiing and snowboarding competitions, there were fashion shows, demonstrations, snowman building contests and a crazy ‘snowballing’ competition, using cream instead of icy snow.

Perfect Preparation for Winter

The entire event, which was totally free, was very family orientated, offering everyone from serious sports enthusiasts to tiny tots the opportunity to get prepared for the coming winter sports season. Highlights included a special ‘nursery slope’ staffed by professional instructors from the Burton snowboards team, as well as a 120m snow-covered track for serious ski jumps. Thrill seekers booking cheap flights to Prague could also hone their boarding skills at the O2 snowpark. Equalling any winter stadium, it was the highlight of the weekend, although the five-metre wall-ride fixed to the waterfront railing was not for the faint-hearted.

We at Jet2.com have cheap flights to Prague that allow visitors to sample everything from figure skating to Christmas markets.
