Nineties rock band Blur have confirmed that they will be performing at the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona in 2013.
The announcement comes as a surprise and a delight to many fans, as many frontman Damon Albarn had hinted in August that their recent gig at Hyde Park in London for the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony would be their last.
The Primavera Festival will take place in Barcelona, Spain on May 24th, 2013. The band have not mentioned whether or not they will be playing any more of their new material at their live show, as they wrote two new tracks for the London concert and hinted that there would be more to follow. The band has been around for more than 20 years and is best known for their breakout albums Parklife and The Great Escape.
The Primavera Sound Festival is an annual music festival which is held in Barcelona, within the Parc del Forum. It is one of the largest music festivals in Spain, with more than 100,000 attendees over the course of the weekend.
The festival line up focuses on independent music and showcases a wide variety of artists. Notable musical groups who have performed during previous years include Lou Reed, The Smashing Pumpkins, Neil Young, The White Stripes, Sonic Youth, Motorhead, Pet Shop Boys and The Flaming Lips.
Blur fans should book their tickets to the festival and their cheap flights to Barcelona as soon as possible, as this is sure to be a very popular event and will sell out quickly.
