Announcements

The Greek Islands are the chosen destination for politicians in Germany this year, who wish to demonstrate their support for Greece. According to German newspaper Deutsche Welle, Beate Muller-Gemmeke, who is a political representative for the Green Party, decided to holiday on a Greek island as soon as she was informed that tourism there had dropped by 50 per cent.

Another German politician who wanted to show support for Greece is Richard Pitterle, who is to fly his family to Crete during the summer. He was quoted as telling Greek citizens: “We have not written you off.”

A Popular Place for Germans

Tourism is the main source of income for Greece, which is why travellers can always source good value holidays to the Greek Islands throughout the year. Friedlinde Gurr-Hirsch who is acting chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) faction in Baden-Wurttemberg, returned recently from a break in Corfu. She spent her holiday there with her children and grandchildren to demonstrate to travellers that there is no reason to stop booking holidays to the Greek Islands.

German politicians have holidayed or expect to holiday in Greece as a show of support to the country and its people. They also took advantage of the excellent cuisine, beaches and time out to relax. Travellers who follow the example of the German politicians will find some exceptional deals available with Jet2.com. A number of German politicians have spent their holidays in Greece in previous years, like Mechthild Rawert who last year stayed with her daughter in Rhodes.
