Paphos really comes alive when the sun goes down! For those seeking a fun-packed holiday with full-on night life, then Paphos won’t let you down. With bars and clubs a plenty, it’s fast becoming a party destination. Of course, this being Cyprus, there’s always a more relaxing alternative. If you’d rather chill out and people-watch, you’ll find plenty of places to kick back as you take in the surroundings...
With a whole street dedicated to bars and clubs – not surprisingly called Bar Street – Paphos really comes alive when the sun goes down. Whatever your taste in music, you’re sure to find somewhere in this street that will get you busting some moves!
One of the bars you can’t miss, because it looks like a medieval castle, is the Robin Hood Bar. Every night features a different type of music, so it’s well worth dropping by to see if it’s your favourites filling the dance floor. Another Bar Street legend is Woodyz Music Bar, which is busy every night of the week due to its warm welcome and customer-friendly team.
You can’t talk about Bar Street without mentioning its oldest institution, The Rainbow Disco, which really gets started in the wee hours and is a honeypot for hardcore party people. For those of a more, ahem, mature disposition but who still want to strut their funky stuff then the fabulously named Starsky and Hutch Disco Bar plays 70’s and 80’s faves, from Jacko to George Michael, via ABBA and the Bee Gees. Meanwhile, karaoke kings and queens won’t want to miss Splash Bar, with its central swimming pool and chic cocktail bar.
Phew! So when you need to wind down/recharge, where do you go? The central Municipal Beach is good for relaxation and people watching, whereas Faros Beach offers a nice quiet place to nurse the after-effects of the night before. A little further north, Coral Bay is well worth a visit, especially if you want to try your hand at watersports.
For families, Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark is well worth a visit. Whilst it’s unlikely the Greek goddess herself ever indulged in any of the rides here, kids will love the rafting and white knuckle rides on offer. If you really want to push the boat out, you can even try a Jeep Safari into the neighbouring Troodos Mountains for an experience you’ll always remember.
Should you feel the need for cultural enrichment, the Tombs of the Kings are a short trip away and offer a fantastic insight into the rich cultural history of this fascinating island.
