Madeira entry requirements

Current entry requirements

Before travelling to your destination, please check the latest entry requirements as they may differ depending on your: destination, nationality, and your travel document type.

If you aren’t travelling on a full ‘British Citizen’ passport, there might be some different entry requirements. We recommend that all travellers check the latest requirements before travelling, which can be found on the FCDO website.

Destination entry requirements

Without a visa, entry is permitted for a maximum stay of 90 days in a 180-day period

Young people under the age of 18 need a letter of authorisation with them when leaving or entering Portugal, including Madeira, without their parent or legal guardian. This letter must be signed by the parent or legal guardian and, in some circumstances, may need to be legally certified. You can download the form here and you’ll be asked to show your completed form at the airport. For more information, please visit the Portuguese government website.
