Leeds parents celebrating new births alongside William and Kate on Saturday (2nd May) were treated to an additional, and unexpected, surprise delivery.
Having welcomed their very own princes and princesses into the world, families at Leeds General Infirmary were offered a right royal treat from Yorkshire’s biggest airline Jet2.com, with free family flights gifted to all babies delivered on the same day as the Royal Baby.

Jet2.com is also making a £500 donation to the Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal, which will help the charity in its bid to secure a second Resuscitaire Blender for St. James’s Hospital’s delivery suite; a vital piece of equipment for new-born babies needing resuscitation.
Anthony Chukwuemeka and Kimberley McIvor celebrated the arrival of their 7lb 14oz baby boy on Saturday. Speaking about the day Kimberley said: “It’s all been such a surprise. Not only because our baby arrived three days early but we also received free flights too. We’re hoping to get away somewhere nice and hot with ours!”
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Welcoming a new baby into the world is always a momentous occasion but sharing your birthday with a princess is a rare event indeed and one to be celebrated! We'd like to thank all the families for allowing us to share their special day with them and we hope our gesture helps them have a memorable first holiday!
“We’d also like to thank Leeds Children's Hospital Appeal, as well as the delivery suite team, for making this all possible. This fantastic charity does so much for families in our region and we’re delighted to support them in their vital fundraising."
Sharon Evans, Fundraising Development Manager from the Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal, added: “A big congratulations to William and Kate on the safe arrival of their new baby princess and a massive thank you to Jet2.com who have made the families welcoming their own precious bundles of joy into the world this Saturday extra special. Every donation Leeds Children’s Hospital Appeal receives really does make a big difference to the lives of our young patients.”
