Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have today announced further expansion plans at Glasgow Airport, including new routes, an additional aircraft plus even more seats for summer 2015.
Now on sale are FOUR fantastic new destinations for local passengers; the popular European city Prague – a brand new route for Glasgow airport – plus sizzling sunshine hotspots Antalya, Larnaca and Malta.
The introduction of these routes along with the addition of a sixth aircraft – coming hot on the heels of a fifth aircraft arriving earlier this year – will see Jet2.com operate its biggest ever flying programme from Glasgow Airport next year:
- Over 700,000 seats will be available for local passengers to 27 in demand sun and city destinations.
- Additional flights to Murcia will be introduced along with the introduction of even friendlier flight times to popular destinations Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Madeira.
Jet2holidays is also continuing to see an increase in customer numbers, with bookings up 32 per cent year on year.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “It has certainly been four years of development at Glasgow Airport and we are thrilled to be announcing further growth plans for summer 2015.
“Since our first flight took off we are not only increasing capacity year on year but we have also more than trebled our range of destinations from seven to 27. Our city break offering is further expanding with the introduction of Prague, a first for Glasgow, while Antalya, Larnaca and Malta will be popular additions to both our holiday product and seat only offerings.
“These developments really demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing our loyal local customers with unrivalled choice and flexibility when it comes to planning their next well earned break. With our fantastic range of destinations, coupled with great flight times and award winning customer service, we are confident we have the right mix to cement our position as the leading leisure operator at Glasgow Airport.”
Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: “By announcing the addition of a sixth aircraft and with its four new routes, Jet2.com has once again reaffirmed its commitment to Glasgow. Since its arrival in March 2011 it has, time and again, responded to passenger demand by continually enhancing its offering and we’re extremely proud to be Jet2.com’s largest Scottish base.
“Over the course of the past three years the airline has created in excess of 240 jobs, so not only has it provided customers with greater choice through the addition of 27 services, Jet2.com has made a valuable contribution to the local economy.”
