New Routes, Announcements

In response to customer demand at Birmingham Airport, we are adding more flights and holidays for the peak summer season, with a major focus on Greece and the addition of a new route to Corfu.

With our first anniversary at Birmingham Airport approaching, we are adding over 9,000 departing seats between July and September, including more than 7,500 departing seats to Greece. This takes our total capacity to well over 1.2 million seats this Summer, more than double the capacity last summer.

The additional flights and holidays include a brand new route to Corfu, thanks to the introduction of a weekly Saturday service which gives local holidaymakers the chance to get away to this fabulous island, which features secret coves, olive-strewn hills and fantastic beach resorts such as Sidari, Kavos and Barbati. The addition of Corfu now gives local people a choice of 34 top sun and city destinations from Birmingham Airport this summer with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays.

The popularity of Greece means that we are also adding two weekend services (Saturday and Sundays) during the peak summer season to Rhodes, meaning we will now operate four weekly services to this picturesque island, which offers sandy beaches, medieval towns and buzzing nightlife.

We are also putting on an additional Friday service to Crete (now four weekly services during the peak summer season) and we are upping the Zante, with the introduction of a weekly Monday service to Zante, meaning three weekly services from July to September.

Alongside this Greek expansion, local holidaymakers now have a bigger choice Menorca flights, thanks to addition of a weekly Sunday service. This means four weekly services to the popular island, again providing more choice and flexible durations.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “This is fantastic news for holidaymakers in Birmingham and across the West Midlands. Since we launched at Birmingham Airport we have seen nothing but strong demand for our award winning flights and great value package holidays, and as a result of this our summer programme has more than doubled in size. Our latest response to this demand means the launch a new route to the stunning destination of Corfu, as well as more flights to Rhodes, Zante, Crete and Menorca too.”

William Pearson, Aviation Director at Birmingham Airport, said: “Since launching services from Birmingham almost a year ago, the Jet2.com and Jet2holidays product has proven to be extremely popular with our passengers here at Birmingham Airport and it’s great to see them expanding their flight frequencies and destination choices to top summer destinations.

“Corfu is a Greek island steeped in history with rugged mountains and a resort-studded shoreline. Increasing frequency to other Mediterranean holiday hot spots will give our passengers more choice and seat availability during the busier summer season.”

Emy Anagnostopoulou, Director, Greek National Tourist Office UK & Ireland Office said: “We are very pleased to hear that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is increasing the number of flights, holiday packages and capacity from Birmingham to Greece in 2018. We are sure that their customers will discover the unique treasures of our breathtaking destinations”.
