Cheap flights to Dubrovnik are sure to be called for this year, as the Croatian city is showing the world that it is home to a hotbed of culture thanks to an extensive summer festival programme, with events to appeal to all ages and tastes.

The festival that is perhaps the cultural jewel in Dubrovnik's crown is the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. Taking place over six weeks at venues all across the city, it has been compared to Edinburgh Festival. Tickets are available for a number of the shows, but there are also free street performances meaning that even those travelling on a tight budget can take in a spot of Croatian culture. This year sees the 64th annual Dubrovnik Summer Festival and the line-up looks stronger than ever, featuring musical and theatre performances across the city from July 10 to August 25.

Something a Bit More Edgy

For those who like their culture with a bit more street cred, the Re-Action Festival of Urban Culture might appeal. This festival takes place across a selection of exhibitions, concerts and club nights and is the antidote to those in search of a break from highbrow culture, with street art and urban culture being given as much exposure as film screenings and art exhibitions.

A number of other festivals run across Dubrovnik throughout the summer, including a film festival and even a water polo festival. More information on these festivals can be found out by contacting the Dubrovnik Tourism Office.

Cheap flights to Dubrovnik are easy to book with Jet2, and flights to the city can get you there in less than three hours.
