How to get an NHS COVID Pass

What’s an NHS COVID Pass?

If you’re fully vaccinated with two doses of any approved vaccine, some destinations allow you to enter the country without showing a negative COVID-19 test result. You can check our travel requirements page for more information.

Instead, you’ll be asked to show proof of your vaccination status. An NHS COVID Pass shows your COVID-19 vaccination details (including if you’ve had a booster) or test results – this is your status. This is available for those aged 16 or over (12-15 year olds can get a COVID Pass letter) who have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in England. This is different to an EU Digital COVID Certificate – see more information below.

The NHS COVID Pass is different to an EU Digital COVID Certificate. And if you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, your proof of vaccination process is also different. See more information below.

What’s the difference between an NHS COVID pass and EU Digital COVID Certificate?

The difference between these is eligibility. An NHS COVID Pass is available for those aged 16 or over (12-15 year olds can get a COVID Pass letter) who have received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine in England. An EU Digital COVID Certificate is available for EU citizens, and those of Switzerland, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, and non-EU nationals living in EU member states.

So as the UK is no longer part of the EU, the EU Digital COVID Certificate isn’t available to most Britons.
