9km north of Preveza lays Nicopolis – thought to be the largest ancient city in Greece! This remarkable site, which translates as ‘victory city’, was founded in 29 BC by the first Roman Emperor, Augustus – but it’s been abandoned since the 13th century. Today, there’s a museum that’ll transport you back in time.
