Nice is southern France at its finest, with a dash of cosmopolitan vibes and a sprinkle of beach ambience topped off by all the glitz one could ever wish for. With sunny streets, a dreamy seafront promenade and a buzzing café culture, it’s no wonder this pastel-perfect port city is such a popular spot for a city break. There are plenty of world-renowned sights to visit and, more importantly, restaurants and hotels to call into for a bespoke dinner followed by an even better round of cocktails. You’re likely to stumble upon some famous scenes too – Le Negresco hotel, anyone? The likes of Dalí and Elizabeth Taylor have stayed there – you don’t want to miss that! Ready for a sunbathing afternoon? Bonjour, Promenade des Anglais! This palm-fringed prom provides front-row seats to a gorgeous swathe. When you add to that a picturesque port, enchanting Old Town, and the glamour of Cannes and Monaco nearby, you’ve got all the boxes ticked for a chic Cote d’Azur escape. Go on, book those flights to Nice...

Nice’s events calendar is bursting at the seams with everything from sporty events to music festivals. In mid-July, Nice Jazz Festival takes place within dreamy flower-filled gardens, with some rock, pop and hip-hop added in too. Make sure you buy your tickets in advance!
If you fancy a bit of culture, Nice has some great museums. Art afficionados in particular will be spoilt for choice with the Musée National Message Biblique Marc-Chagall, and the marble building housing the Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain. There’s the Musée Matisse too, showcasing works from the famous French artist.
Visit the Vieux Nice (Old Town) to see the colourful flower and fruit market held daily in the Place Rossetti. Nice is also fantastic for fashion, whether it's designer brands down Rue Paradis or high-street heroes on the main shopping street, Avenue Jean Medecin.
