Turn on the waterworks

The oldest and most iconic crossing here is Rialto Bridge, close to where rows of market stalls and pops of colourful buildings coexist. Gaze out across the beautiful Grand Canal and set sail on a gondola ride to really get the full view of what’s in and around magical Venice.

The Floating City

Start in Piazza San Marco (St Mark’s Square) and you won’t be disappointed. Take the lift to the top of the Campanile for astonishing cinematic city views. Doge’s Palace is essential if you’re ticking off the museums. As for evenings, dine al fresco on heavenly seafood linguine with an ice-cold Prosecco.

If you’re not settling in the city, then you must be after Lido di Jesolo. This is where striped, candy cane-coloured parasols line up on the sands, and there’s a proper seaside feel. Make the most of gorgeous sunny weather and pitch up on your own patch of the 15km beach.
