Travelling with Infants

Infants under two on the date of the flight can travel free of charge. Infants over 7 days old, who don’t have any underlying health conditions won’t need prior clearance and will be allowed onboard. Infants who are between 2 and 7 days old will need prior approval from Jet2.com. Infants 2-14 days old who have been incubated, ventilated or have had any birth complications will also need approval before they fly. We are unable to carry any infants less than 2 days old.

Booking before an infant has been born

You can make a booking before an infant has been born. If their name’s unconfirmed, all you need to do is enter the first name as ‘Unborn’ and last name as ‘Baby’. Once the infant’s name has been confirmed, contact us and we'll be happy to update the name free of charge.

Infant seating

Infants will be seated on the lap of their accompanying adult and secured using an extension seatbelt, which will be provided by the Cabin Crew. You are not permitted to use your own infant or extension seatbelt. Alternatively, you can book a seat for them where they’ll have to sit in a car seat, as long as it meets the required criteria. If you want to book a seat for your infant during the flight, please contact our Customer Service team for advice and charges. Please see the ‘Child and infant equipment’ section of these FAQs for more information.

Infant equipment

You can bring up to two items per child or infant free of charge. These can include:

  • A collapsible pushchair, pram or buggy
  • A car seat or booster seat
  • A baby carrier
  • A travel cot

Each item must weigh no more than 32kg, and any extra items (or weight beyond your allowance) will be charged as standard excess baggage. Don’t forget, you can also keep your pushchair with you right up until you reach the plane steps or airbridge before boarding.

Infant baggage

Don’t forget, if you’re travelling with an infant and you’ve already added a hold bag to your booking, we’ll automatically increase your allowance by an extra 10kg per infant, free of charge! Find out more about this here.
