You can go from the city to the slopes in just 20 minutes in the Nordkette ski area. There are six slopes for different skill levels, as well as a snow park packed with kickers, rails and obstacles. The views of Innsbruck are an added bonus!
Further afield, you’ll find spots like Mayrhofen. Part of the Zillertal ski area, you’ll have a bounty of snow-sure slopes to uncover. The terrain’s more suited to skiers and boarders who have a few trips under their belt, but there are some beginner-appropriate runs too. After somewhere with atmosphere? St Anton am Arlberg has a legendary après-ski scene, with many of the bars at the bottom of the home runs and along the main street providing live music and dancing into the small hours.

Nearest ski resorts
If you want to spend more time skiing and less time travelling, opt for a resort that’s closer to the airport. Igls, Seefeld and Mayrhofen are all great choices with shorter transfer times.

Highest resort
Pitztal Glacier is Austria’s highest resort, sitting at a whopping 3,440m and offering far-reaching alpine views an hour’s drive from Innsbruck. The highest ski point is marked by a modern ski station, Café 3440, which is also Austria’s highest vantage point and is open all year round.

Biggest ski area
The Arlberg region is Austria’s biggest ski area, with over 305km of slopes to explore across the villages of St. Anton am Arlberg, St. Christoph, Stuben, Lech, Zürs, Warth and Schröcken. It’s got a world-class reputation, thanks to its runs for every ability and age.
