Crete - Chania

Vols pas chers pour Crete (Chania)

Overview

Flying into Crete’s second biggest city makes it easy to discover the western coast of the island, where you’ll find authentic villages, natural wonders and stunning sandy beaches. It’s also well worth staying in the city of Chania itself, with Venetian architecture to admire and a fine choice of tavernas. The historic Old Town and sparkling harbour make Chania a pleasant place for both relaxing and exploring.

Venetian elegance

Crete was under Venetian rule for around 400 years, and this certainly left a lasting impression on Chania. Wandering along the beautiful Venetian Harbour is a delight, as the glistening waterfront meets the elegant Venetian Lighthouse, cobbled stone walls and colourful townhouses. Explore the Old Town further to discover vine-draped tavernas and bars among the cobbled streets.

Plenty to see and do

As one of the largest cities in Crete, Chania has a great mix of attractions and activities. Visit the Maritime Museum of Crete to see model recreations of historic ships or head to Chania Archaeological Museum to see ancient artefacts. Meanwhile, the natural wonder of Samaria Gorge is only around 30 miles away.

Local villages

Chania is an excellent connection for exploring the west coast of Crete. Several peaceful resorts lie close by, including Stalos, which has a gorgeous golden sandy beach, and Kalyves, with a seafront surrounded by the White Mountains. You’ll also love relaxing on the spacious shore of Aghia Marina.
