Dangerous Goods

Many common travel items contain substances which make them unsuitable for carriage by air, or which mean there are certain restrictions surrounding their carriage. Find out more about dangerous goods 

Jet2.com also have the following operator restrictions on the carriage of Dangerous Goods: 

• Jet2.com does not accept Cargo shipments 
• When carried by customers, lithium-ion batteries, lithium metal batteries, and power banks that do not clearly state the watt-hour rating or lithium metal content, or where the watt-hour rating cannot easily be otherwise ascertained, are forbidden 
• Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries, such as balance wheel, air wheel, solo wheel, hoverboards, bikes, etc., are forbidden to be transported in passenger luggage as checked or carry-on baggage 

Failure to comply with Dangerous Goods restrictions is a criminal offence. 

Items Containing Batteries 

Your safety is our priority when travelling with us, and your cooperation is essential. We would therefore like to draw your attention to the below requirements when travelling with items containing batteries: 

• Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) containing lithium batteries, including medical devices such as portable oxygen concentrators (POC), and electronics such as cameras, mobile phones, laptops and tablets, must be carried in the cabin and have a watt-hour rating of 100Wh or less. 
• For PEDs where the watt-hour rating of the battery exceeds 100Wh but are less than 160Wh, approval must be granted by Jet2.com prior to travel.  
• A maximum of 15 PEDs per person may be carried. 
• Each customer is permitted to travel with a maximum of 20 spare/loose lithium batteries (including power banks) in their cabin baggage, providing each battery is individually protected to prevent short circuit.: 
• For lithium-ion batteries: the Wh rating must not exceed 100Wh. 
• For lithium metal batteries: the lithium metal content must not exceed 2g. 


• Customers are permitted to travel with up to 2 spare/loose non-spillable batteries in cabin baggage; these must be 12v or less and 100Wh or less, and be protected from short circuit by insulation of the battery terminals. 
• E-cigarettes (including e-cigars, e-pipes, other personal vaporisers) containing batteries must be carried in the cabin, and individually protected against accidental activation. The use of and recharging of these devices onboard is strictly prohibited. 
• Damaged Personal Electronic Devices (PEDs) and/or spare/loose lithium batteries / cells (including power banks), are forbidden from carriage in all circumstances 
• Jet2.com permits the carriage of laser pistols onboard aircraft providing advance approval. For this, please contact our Pre-Travel team no later than 72 hours before your flight and provide a copy of the “Declaration of Non-Dangerous Sports Equipment” letter issued by the manufacturer. The item must be securely packed in a container within your hold baggage, with the batteries detached, protected against short circuit, and carried in the cabin. The battery cannot exceed 160Wh. Spare batteries are subject to the same limitations as detailed above. 

Munitions of War 

Jet2.com does not carry munitions of war, including shooting equipment that fires projectiles and ammunition onboard any scheduled flights. 

Prohibited Articles 

In accordance with applicable Regulations, passengers are not permitted to carry the following articles into security restricted areas and onboard an aircraft: 

• Guns, firearms and other devices that discharge projectiles – devices capable, or appearing capable, of being used to cause serious injury by discharging a projectile, including: 
• Firearms of all types, such as pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns 
• Toy guns, replicas and imitation firearms capable of being mistaken for real weapons 
• Component parts of firearms, excluding telescopic sights 
• Compressed air and CO2 guns, such as pistols, pellet guns, rifles and ball bearing guns 
• Signal flare pistols and starter pistols 
• Bows, cross bows and arrows 
• Harpoon guns and spear guns 
• Slingshots and catapults 


• Stunning devices – devices designed specifically to stun or immobilise, including: 
• Devices for shocking, such as stun guns, tasers and stun batons 
• Animal stunners and animal killers 
• Disabling and incapacitating chemicals, gases and sprays, such as mace, pepper sprays, capsicum sprays, tear gas, acid sprays and animal repellent sprays 


• Objects with a sharp point or sharp edge capable of being used to cause serious injury, including: 
• Items designed for chopping, such as axes, hatchets and cleavers 
• Ice axes and ice picks 
• Razor blades 
• Box cutters 
• Knives with blades of more than 6 cm 
• Scissors with blades of more than 6 cm as measured from the fulcrum 
• Martial arts equipment with a sharp point or sharp edge 
• Swords and sabres 


• Workmen’s tools – tools capable of being used either to cause serious injury or to threaten the safety of aircraft, including: 
• Crowbars 
• Drills and drill bits, including cordless portable power drills 
• Tools with a blade or a shaft of more than 6cm capable of use as a weapon, such as screwdrivers and chisels 
• Saws, including cordless portable power saws 
• Blowtorches 
• Bolt guns and nail guns 


• Blunt instruments – objects capable of being used to cause serious injury when used to hit, including: 
• Baseball and softball bats 
• Clubs and batons, such as billy clubs, blackjacks and night sticks 
• Martial arts equipment 


• Explosives and incendiary substances and devices capable, or appearing capable, of being used to cause serious injury or to pose a threat to the safety of aircraft, including: 
• Ammunition 
• Blasting caps 
• Detonators and fuses 
• Replica or imitation explosive devices 
• Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores 
• Fireworks and other pyrotechnics 
• Smoke-generating canisters and smoke-generating cartridges 
• Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives 

In addition, passengers are not permitted to carry the following articles in their hold baggage: 

• Explosives and incendiary substances and devices capable of being used to cause serious injury or to pose a threat to the safety of aircraft, including: 
• Ammunition 
• Blasting caps 
• Detonators and fuses 
• Mines, grenades and other explosive military stores 
• Fireworks and other pyrotechnics 
• Smoke-generating canisters and smoke-generating cartridges 
• Dynamite, gunpowder and plastic explosives
